Matt Henley has been named interim director of athletic bands and will lead the Pride of the Mountains Marching Band this upcoming season while a national search is underway for a permanent director.

Kathryn Greeley, chair of the board, has been appointed to the University of North Carolina Board of Governors effective immediately. Joining the WCU Board effective July 1, will be former N.C. State Representative Jon Hardister.

Mountain Heritage Awards call for nominations, celebrating 50th anniversary

Nominations are being accepted for the annual Mountain Heritage Awards, which recognize contributions of regional artists, nonprofit leaders and an array of organizations for their commitment to Appalachian culture and preservation or interpretation of the history of Southern Appalachia.

WCU Board of Trustees approve Chris Williams as the university’s CIO

On Friday, June 14, WCU’s Board of Trustees approved Chris Williams as the university's chief information officer. Williams, who comes to WCU after spending the last nine years as the IT director for Student Affairs at UNC at Chapel Hill, will begin his new position Monday, June 24.
