Engineering Students' Ingenuity Leads to a Trekking Pole for the Digital Age

Almost as ubiquitous as hiking boots is a hiking stick, an age-old means to steady a climb, keep one’s balance, push aside brush and ease a descent. Now, add one more function: phone charger, thanks to the ingenuity of Western Carolina University engineering student Kyle Monaghan.

Police lobby, parking lot are now internet sales exchange sites

The designated areas are well-lit and under constant video surveillance to assist anyone buying and selling items online that lead to a person-to-person transaction.

Expected record class to be honored at May 10-11 commencements

After grades from final exams are tallied and academic records finalized, the number of graduates is expected to total more than 1,650.

Activities will include outdoor yoga, guided walks with a birder and botanist, lawn games, a nature art station, sidewalk chalk and a fly fishing instruction demonstration.

Kossick reappointed as on-site reviewer for COA

Mark A. Kossick, WCU professor of nursing and director of nursing graduate programs at the university’s Biltmore Park’s instructional site, has been reappointed by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs as a team on-site reviewer for its accreditation program.
