For
new employees
The
work plan should be developed within 30 days of appointment;
a signed copy should be sent to the Office of Human Resources
within that 30-day timeframe (with a copy provided to the
employee and the original maintained by the supervisor in
the department). This work plan is what the supervisor will
use to evaluate the new employee during his/her probationary
period.
The
probationary period is from three to nine months in duration.
WCU's probationary period is typically six months. However,
the supervisor can choose to abbreviate this period (three
months is the minimum required) or extend it (up to nine
months).
